In order to facilitate a smooth transfer of credit process, students are advised to follow the steps outlined below:
- Meet with the appropriate Academic Advisor to review overall academic planning, and what courses or course types might be best to take while abroad.
- Review course options available at the selected study abroad program.
- Please note that these are sometimes not available at the time of application, and can be submitted once a student arrives to their study abroad location as well.
- Fill out proposed study abroad courses on the Education Abroad Approval Form and submit to cua-transfercredit@cua.edu
- Unless you are already aware of the equivalent courses, please leave the transfer coordinator section blank.
- The Office of Transfer Credit will let you know, based on your list, what courses have already been approved for equivalency. In some circumstances, you may need to submit syllabi for the not-yet-evaluated courses, which will be requested at this time.
- Please remember that syllabi and course descriptions are different. Syllabi are necessary for evaluation, and can typically be requested once courses are posted at the host institution.
- The Office of Transfer Credit will affirm course equivalency via email to CUAbroad, the student and their Advisor.
- This affirmation is equivalent to a signature on the Education Abroad Approval Form.
- Official Transcripts from the study abroad institution should be sent directly from the school to Global Studies, who will then relay that information to the Office of Transfer Credit for review and credit posting.
