1. Planning and Advising:

The first step in determining if taking a course while away from Catholic is a good idea is speaking with your advisor. They will be able to assist you in identifying what courses might be helpful to take while away. They can also advise you on what courses are not allowed, per policy, to be taken away from Catholic, as is often the case in major courses.

It is important to remember the Restrictions and limitations for off-campus courses when considering off campus options.
  2. Find Your Course:

If you know what school you are interested in take a course with, you can start by exploring our Course Equivalents by State page, which includes a full listing of all courses that have already been evaluated.

If you are unable to find a course you are interested, or a school you hope to attend on that page, you can email the Office of Transfer Credit at cua-transfercredit@cua.edu with the name of the school, course(s), and syllabus for potential courses in order to start the evaluation process.

Please send syllabi as attachments in PDF or Word Documents, labeled with the Institution, Subject and Course Number (i.e. UniversityofMaryland_COMM_451).

  3. Submission of Official Transcript:

Once you have completed your course or courses and achieved a grade of C- or better, please request an official copy of your transcript be sent directly to cua-transfercredit@cua.edu, so it can be reviewed. A transcript is only considered official if it is sent directly from one school to the other, students should not be in possession of any official transcripts.

  4. Course Posting:

Once an official transcript has been received and reviewed for minimum requirements, credits will be added to Cardinal Station. Students and their advisor will be notified of the course posting via email.

As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions you might have on the process: cua-transfercredit@cua.edu

Remember, the priority deadlines for Summer Course Evaluation is May 1.
